Kai Konig : CFlex: How to integrate Macromedia Flex with ColdFusion
The release of Macromedia Flex provides another J2EE-based building block
of web-based rich internet applications. This session will discuss
architectural aspects regarding the integration of web applications based
on ColdFusion MX with Macromedia Flex.
You can expect a very basic introduction in the Flex development model
and the architecture of typical Flex applications. A strong focus will
be on the architectures of web and also rich internet applications in
general and about the roles ColdFusion and Flex might play in a certain
instance of the provided general architecture.
The session will give an impression how web and rich internet
applications might become developed and architected in the near future
and will provide the visitors with inspiration and ideas on how to build
stable, reliable and scalable architectures to fullfill their customers
needs.

Hal Helms: XP exposed
In much of the programming world,
"Extreme Programming", a movement led by Kent Beck and Ron Jeffries, has
taken hold. It promises to solve long-standing problems in software
development and fits wonderfully with the way most programmers like to
code. Sounds great, right? Well, not so fast, Sparky. You might want to
look under the hood of XP before you commit to it. In this talk, Hal
explains XP and relates conversations he's had with Kent Beck and Bruce
Eckel on the topic. What you find may surprise you.

Securing shopping carts in e-commerce sites
In this session,
Bogdan will explain you some must-knows about creating and securing
shopping carts in ColdFusion. Now that Mozilla offers you the possibility
to modify the content of your HTML pages while seeing them, imagine
modifying the product prices from the pages you visit then submitting
the requests :)
Michael Smith: Personas for better apps.
Do your programs
always do what all your users want? Would you like a way to get user input
into the architecting process without going crazy? If so Personas may be
for you. Developed by Alan Cooper and featured in his book "The Inmates
are Running the Asylum", "Personas" can be used to help focus your design
and development efforts on the people who will use your application.
Personas are a way to think about the different users while you are
designing the application, instead of waiting until it is released.

Lucas Sherwood:
ColdFusion and Performance
The ability to build an application
is one thing, the ability to build an application that behaves well under
load is different matter altogether. In this session will examine techniques
that can be used to build an application that performs better under load
and will examine ways in which you can test your application to ensure
that it performs admirably when the going gets tough.
