In much of the programming world, "Extreme Programming", a movement led by Kent Beck and Ron Jeffries, has taken hold. It promises to solve long-standing problems in software development and fits wonderfully with the way most programmers like to code. Sounds great, right? Well, not so fast, Sparky. You might want to look under the hood of XP before you commit to it. In this talk, Hal explains XP and relates conversations he's had with Kent Beck and Bruce Eckel on the topic. What you find may surprise you.

Michael Smith: Personas for better apps.
Do your programs always do what all your users want? Would you like a way to get user input into the architecting process without going crazy? If so Personas may be for you. Developed by Alan Cooper and featured in his book "The Inmates are Running the Asylum", "Personas" can be used to help focus your design and development efforts on the people who will use your application. Personas are a way to think about the different users while you are designing the application, instead of waiting until it is released.

presentation

Lucas Sherwood: ColdFusion and Performance
The ability to build an application is one thing, the ability to build an application that behaves well under load is different matter altogether. In this session will examine techniques that can be used to build an application that performs better under load and will examine ways in which you can test your application to ensure that it performs admirably when the going gets tough.
